Marvel Studios’ upcoming blockbuster “Avengers: Doomsday” is already showing huge demand at the box office, even though the film is still more than three months away from its theatrical release. Disney has confirmed that the movie has crossed $50 million in domestic advance ticket sales, giving the Marvel film an unusually strong start before audiences have even seen it.
The milestone was revealed by Disney Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Hugh Johnston during the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference. The announcement highlights the strong interest surrounding the next major Avengers movie and suggests that fans are already making plans to see it on the big screen.
“Avengers: Doomsday” is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026. Reaching $50 million in presales roughly 100 days before release is especially notable because most major movies build the majority of their advance sales much closer to opening day.
One of the biggest reasons behind the early revenue appears to be demand for premium-format screenings. More than 70% of the advance tickets sold so far are for Disney’s Infinity Vision format, according to figures shared by the studio. The premium format is designed to provide audiences with a larger and more immersive theatrical experience.
The movie will also face an interesting box-office battle when it arrives. “Avengers: Doomsday” is scheduled to open on the same day as “Dune: Part Three,” directed by Denis Villeneuve. “Dune: Part Three” has secured IMAX screens for its opening period, while Disney is using Infinity Vision and other premium screens to give “Doomsday” a strong theatrical presence.
Marvel’s promotional campaign has also helped keep the movie in the spotlight. The July trailer for “Avengers: Doomsday” became Disney’s most-viewed trailer ever and ranked among the biggest movie trailer launches. The huge response has helped build excitement around the film months before its release.
The movie is expected to bring together heroes from different parts of the Marvel universe as they face a major threat. The cast includes returning Marvel stars as well as characters from the Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts and the original Fox-era X-Men films. Robert Downey Jr. is also returning to the Marvel universe in a major new role as Doctor Doom, adding another major attraction for longtime fans.
The strong presales come at an important time for Marvel. The studio has recently enjoyed renewed interest in its theatrical releases, while “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has helped generate additional excitement around Marvel’s upcoming projects. The planned theatrical re-release of “Avengers: Endgame” later this month is also expected to reconnect audiences with the story leading into “Doomsday.”
With three months still remaining before opening day, the $50 million figure could grow substantially as more tickets become available and marketing increases. The early sales do not guarantee a record-breaking final box office, but they show that interest in the Avengers franchise remains extremely strong.
For Marvel Studios, “Avengers: Doomsday” is shaping up to be one of the biggest cinematic events of 2026. The film has already started its box-office journey long before its December release.
