New York fashion designer Sandy Liang is turning more than a decade of memories, designs and personal photographs into a new book with Rizzoli.
Titled “Dressing Up: Sandy Liang,” the hardcover book offers a personal look at Liang’s fashion world, her creative influences and the ideas that helped shape her brand. The book is scheduled to be published in September 2026 and will contain 276 pages.
For Liang, the project started with a simple problem: she realized that she did not have a formal archive of her own work. Instead, much of her creative history existed across photographs, phones, runway images, memories and other pieces of material collected over the years.
The new book gives those pieces a permanent home.
A Look Inside Sandy Liang’s World
“Dressing Up” is not designed to feel like a traditional fashion history book. Rizzoli describes it as an intimate collection that explores Liang’s ideas about girlhood, femininity and personal style.
The book includes previously unpublished personal photographs, film images, iPhone photos, runway moments and other pieces from Liang’s creative world. It also looks at the inspirations behind her designs and her approach to everyday dressing.
Liang is known for designs featuring bows, Peter Pan collars, pleated skirts, florals, ballet-inspired details and other playful elements. Her work often combines memories from growing up in New York with references to youth culture and nostalgia.
That personal connection is an important part of the book.
More Than Just Fashion
Liang’s fashion story is closely connected to her personal life. Her memories, family experiences, friendships and New York upbringing have all influenced the visual world surrounding her brand.
The book brings these different parts together rather than focusing only on finished clothing collections.
Rizzoli says the publication includes a selection of material from Liang’s archive, giving readers a closer look at the inspirations and moments behind her work. The result is intended to feel more like a scrapbook of memories than a formal record of a fashion company.
The book also features contributions from creative director Ava Nirui and stylist Dean DiCriscio. Actress Greta Lee is also involved with the project, adding another voice to the celebration of Liang’s work.
A Decade of Sandy Liang
Liang launched her namesake fashion label in 2014, and the brand has since developed a following beyond New York. Her designs have attracted attention in cities including Paris, Tokyo, Seoul and Hong Kong.
That makes the new book an important moment for the designer. Instead of simply looking ahead to another collection, Liang is taking time to look back at how her creative world developed.
The book also shows how personal photographs can become part of a fashion archive. Many of the images are not traditional campaign photographs. They capture everyday moments, inspirations and memories that help explain where Liang’s ideas come from.
A New Chapter for the Designer
“Dressing Up: Sandy Liang” is expected to give fans a closer look at the person and memories behind the brand.
The book is listed as a $65 hardcover from Rizzoli, with a September 2026 publication date.
For Liang, creating the archive may be just as important as preserving her clothing designs. It gives her more than ten years of work a place where future fans can see how her ideas, style and personal influences came together.
In that way, “Dressing Up” is not simply a book about Sandy Liang’s fashion. It is a visual record of the memories and experiences that helped build it.
